Grinding Service

Grinding is a finishing process used to tighten flat and cylindrical surface tolerances by removing a small amount of material so as to improve surface finishes.
The small pieces of materials is removed by the abrasive material rubbing the metal parts in the grinding process. Abrasive materials are usually placed on the surface of a wheel or belt. At the microscopic scale, the chip formation in grinding is the same as other machining processes. Grinding of abrasive material generates excessive heat. Therefore, the cutting area needs to be soaked with the liquid.

Reasons for grinding processes
  • The material is too difficult to process economically. (The material may have hardened to produce a low wear surface, for example, a bearing track).
  • The required tolerances do not allow to be processed. If the surface is fully supported, the grinding process can have flatness tolerances of less than ±0.0025 mm (±0.0001 inch) on a  steel surface with a size of 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 inch).
  • The grinding process can remove excess materials.
